Knit Happens
I’m stunned by my L.A. sister’s knitting prowess.
In the past 3 months, she has knit me a throw (a giant 6 foot-long throw), a small blanket, and a bunch of knit toys.
I started a scarf a decade ago and it’s still sitting in a basket somewhere because I never learned to cast off.
“I’m sure there are places in Phoenix that have knitting classes,” she suggested after listening to me ooh and ahhh over her knitted achievements.
“Phoenix is not L.A.,” I told her, remembering a sewing class I took filled with retirees interested in quilt-making.
Then I popped into a new store on Indian School that took the place of former eco-friendly home store, called Knit Happens.
On a random weekday visit, a half-dozen women or so chatted around a community table knitting. A class? Perhaps.
I walked around the store gazing at skein after skein of amazing yarn, imagining the scarves and blankets I could knit with my own 2 hands. Then I remembered how inept my previous attempts had been and inquired about classes.
There is a fullĀ Fall/winter class schedule for beginners and advanced knitters alike.

The elephant and frog are really awesome too! Certainly a lot better than my knitting machine (or could it be the user?!).

Is it wrong for someone (me) in their late 20s to want those bears? So adorable.
