Off-menu ordering at Eastwind
During a recent lunchtime trip to Eastwind Restaurant I spotted a delicious-looking dish awaiting table delivery — a plate of soba noodles with tempura.
“What is that?” I asked, intrigued.
“Zaru Soba,” replied the guy carrying the delectable meal.
Hot soba noodles, cold dipping sauce, vegetable tempura — a perfect light meal for a temperate day (photo above is not an actual representation).
Ultimately, I ended up getting something else, but I was still hung up on the soba, so I looked for it on the menu. Nothing.
“Oh it’s a special off menu item,” helpful Eastwind guy said when I questioned the absence.
Off menu?!!!
Now I was even more curious. After some digging, I found out it runs $8.20 (which includes tax) — I put it on my to-do list for an upcoming meal.
