Fall shopping list: Shades of plum
The cool tones that come with colder weather always seem to go well with shades of plum.
Come September and October, I look forward to wearing plummy nail polish to get the season kicked off right.
Here are a few other items I’m thinking about:
- Deux Lux Zipper Flapover Satchel, $58
- Tarte Cheek Stain in Blushing Bride, $30
- Bad Gal Plum Mascara, $19
- Delightfully Warm Tights, $21.99
- Double Cable Eternity Scarf, $28
- Ursula Belt, $19.50

What’s Cracking Good — A great remodel
Take a look at Lola Coffee Bar owner, Daniel Wayne’s kick-ass Haver.
It gave me some ideas for my own very similar abode. And, I want a desert tortoise.
Fall shopping list: Cozy sweaters
When the weather is cool, I like nothing more than to bundle up in a cozy sweater. Even better, roomy, voluminous knits look great with the skinny cargos and “jeggings” and rugged boots I also plan on wearing this fall.
Here are a few I’m liking:
- Dex Twisted Cable Cardigan, $79
- Rutledge Sweatercoat, $178
- Weekend Mohair Cardigan, $78
- Dunia Cardigan, $140
When is my watermelon going to be ready?
I looked on eHow about harvesting watermelon and the first suggestion, “Check out the description on your watermelon’s seed packet.”
My watermelon spontaneously generated. That advice won’t help me.
Another tip: look at curly tendrils around the stem. Green tendrils mean it’s still ripening. Brown and dry equals a done melon. I don’t seem to have any tendrils.
Next tests: The thumbnail test (if your thumb fails to indent the skin, it’s ready) and the underbelly test (warm, yellow hue equals ripe melon).
Anyone know when a watermelon is ready?
Fall shopping list: Rugged boots
- Portland Lace-up Boots, $228
- All Saints Sand Boot, $130
- Bernardo Regina Boot, $159.95
- Cooper, $169
- Mia Desert Boots, $138.95
- Keira Buckle Boot, $378

What’s Cracking Good — Twitter forever
I taught my Online Media class on Twitter last week.
“I can’t believe you didn’t wear your necklace!” exclaimed my husband.
He is so right.
You see, recently, he gave me a necklace with my Twitter name (@crackinggood) from Survival of the Hippest.
“It’s kind of goofy,” he claimed when he handed it over. Perhaps, but I’m a goofy gal — who is online constantly.
Now I need pendants with my instant messenger name and domain name to make the accessorizing complete!
